Joseph Krings has established himself as an editor fluent in cutting both documentary and narrative feature films. CAPTAIN FANTASTIC directed by Matt Ross premiered at the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals and earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for Viggo Mortensen. REBEL IN THE RYE, the directorial debut of award-winning writer Danny Strong, portrays the life of author JD Salinger starring Nicholas Hoult and Kevin Spacey. It premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released on September 15th. In documentary, he has cut two fast and funny pop culture docs: SUPERMENSCH, directed by Mike Myers, was named Best Documentary at the Hollywood Film Awards and nominated for an Emmy. DRUNK STONED BRILLIANT DEAD about the wild heyday of the National Lampoon Magazine premiered at Sundance. His latest doc project WHAT CARTER LOST, directed by Adam Hootnick and produced under the ESPN 30 for 30 banner, will air soon. Krings was named the 2013 Sally Menke Memorial Editing Fellow by the Sundance Institute. In addition to long form works, he has cut several shorts and music videos for filmmakers Azazel Jacobs, Oona Mekas and Michael Pitt. When he’s not working, he sleeps in Brooklyn.
